Solvron is a synthetic yarn of Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) family, and is produced exclusively by NITIVY CO.,LTD.
Solvron, as the name indicates, is easily dissolvable by plain warm or hot water with no aid of any chemical agents.
Because of its ready solubility, Solvron itself is not usable for ordinary wear apparels. However, taking advantage of its solubility, a number of significant applications for Solvron have been and are being developed and perfected.
1) For Twistless Pile Making:
Feather-like Softness and High Absorbency
Specific Effect by Solvron: Twistless Effect for Towel, Bath-Robe, Babywear, Sportswear, etc.
2) For Separation:
Socks, Fishing Net, Sweater, Narrow (knitted) Tape
3) For Improvement of Weavability:
Reinforcement in Fine Yarns/Fluff Binding
Utilization for Wool Fabric
4) Utilization of Remarkable Shrinkage of Solvron
5) For Weftless Felt in Paper Mills:
Making the felt for Paper Mills devoid of Weft.
6) Solvron Sewing Thread:
Tacking thread for sanitary laundry bag, ground cloth, etc.
7) For Ground Cloth in Embroidery
8) Colored Solvron for a marking yarn of panty-hose, tights production
9) For Higher Quality of Raschel Lace:
To create more fancier patterns of Picot/Scallop and to make its separation easier
10) For Ajoure Fabric:
To create fancy weave or pattern by partially dissolving the fabric, especially Check Designs
11) For Special-Pile Fabric:
By Circular-Double or Tricot Machines, possible to create a very interesting and high level Pile-Knit fabric, available for Sport-Jersey and Lady's Garment
12) For Cover-Wrap Application:
To make various fancy yarns
I. Submerge Solvron Directly Into Hot Water:
To ensure quick and even dissolving, heat up water to a needed temperature at first, and then submerge Solvron directly into hot water. If Solvron is placed first in cold water, under tension-free status, and water temperature is raised gradually, Solvron will start shrinking without breaking or dismembering. As the temperature rises to a needed degree, only then will Solvron dissolve away in hot water.
II. Sufficient Bath-Ratio/Stirring, Over-Flowing:
The suitable bath-ratio is 1:30 weightwise. Bath-ratio should be sufficient enough to facilitate prompt dissolution and also to allow free moving of the goods. If too many goods are put in limited volume of water, dissolving will become difficult. Stirring of water is essentional to promote rapid dissolution. And continual over-flowing of water is most desired.
III. Dissolving Time:
It differs greatly depending upon how much
and in what status Solvron is used, and
therefore is rather difficult to generalize
the dissolving time. If Solvron is placed
in direct contact with hot water, without
being covered or wrapped by some insoluble
materials, dissolving is easy and instant.
If, however, Solvron is covered or wrapped
by insoluble material to the extent of preventing
free flow-in-and -out of hot water, dissolvign
takes much longer time. Generally speaking,
10 to 20 minutes of initial boiling, followed
by secondary boiling** in fresh hot water
will ensure dissolving under normal conditions.
(**Secondary Boiling and Rinsing: Solvron
does dissolve in hot water, but it does
not evaporate away like gas does. Solvorn,
before dissolving, will transform into a
glue-like solution of PVA, which promptly
dissolves away into hot water if the temperature
is hot enough. Accordingly, re-boiling in
fresh hot water is helpful in washing away
PVA residue. Also, to ensure complete removal
of PVA residue, it is important to apply
thorough rinsing, preferably with warm or
hot water. In case PVA residue is left in
the object, it will get stiff after drying.
IV. Following Factors Influence on Dissolution. So, Dissolving Conditions Must Be Fixed Considering Into These Factors:
- a. Dissolving temperature is raised some times depending on the condition of heat-set.
- b. Tension added at the dissolving process is inclined to make hard to dissolve.
- c. By twisting, flow-in-and-out of hot water takes more time which require higher treatment temperature and/or longer treatment time.
- d. Not be influenced by most of chemicals but followings make hard to dissolve and some times make undissolvable: salts like sodium sufate, sodium chloride, alkali like caustic soda (sodium hydroxide), heavy metal like chromium, formalin, reactive dyestuff, etc.
